2013 NHSA Parent Conference Conference Recap

gravely_parent_conferenceLast week the National Head Start Association held their 30th Annual Parent Conference to great success. Approximately 2000 people attended, choosing from 123 available sessions over the course of four days.

I personally presented two topics at the conference, both of which were well-attended with a high level of engagement from the participants.

It was great to see so many parents becoming empowered at the conference. Many attendees took to social media to share their experiences with each other in real time. On Twitter, you could use hashtag #ParentConf13 to communicate with other attendees. User @shortgiraffe wrote about some of the lessons she was taking home with her…

On Facebook, one attendee wrote: “As a parent of head start I must say that my experience here at the NHSA Annual Parent Conference have been a great one!!!! Cant wait until next year!!!!”

Experiencing the passion and energy that these parents bring into their local head start programs is a true joy for me. Thank you to everyone who attended the conference and I look forward to seeing you again next year!
