Research and data support that parents are the child’s first teachers and play a vital role in the development and growth of the child. Children with actively involved male or father figures during childhood are more likely to have higher levels of success in their careers, better chance of strong lasting marriages and an improved ability to handle stress. Fathers and male significant others provide strength, stability, and a positive male influence on the family component and enhance children’s successful growth and development. We will focus on strategies to forge effective male involvement and engagement in your head start program and child-centered activities to strengthen their bonds.

OBJECTIVES:

  • Promote and develop ideas to incorporate male engagement activities
  • Strengthen and enhance programs by empowering males in their roles as positive role models, advocates, and leaders
  • Develop strategies to ensure that activities are male friendly and centered on male interests and concerns
  • Learn about resources in the community to assist families in understanding their roles as leaders, positive role models and advocates
  • Identify goals on a strategic plan to enhance their male engagement activities enhance your family advocacy efforts
